Pairing Voice Assistant with Nakamichi Shockwafe Soundbars

In this section, we will explore pairing your Voice Assistant to the Nakamichi Shockwafe Dolby Atmos SSE Soundbars. You can also click on the section on the right-hand side to navigate to the section most relevant to you.

 

1. Google Voice Assistant (Bluetooth Pairing)

STEP 1: Setting up Google Home Assistant / Google Nest with Soundbar

  1. Download the Google Home app to your phone or tablet.Get it from iTunes for iOS devices or the Play Store for Android.

  2. Open the Google Home app

  3. Make sure that you are in the right home. The name of the home is at the top of the screen. To change homes, tap the arrow next to the home name.

  4. Open the Google Home app

  5. Tap your device     Settings         

  6. Scroll down to 'Device settings', then tap Default music speaker.

  7. If this is your first time using Bluetooth on this device, tap Enable pairing mode.

  8. Tap Pair Bluetooth speaker. Your Google Nest or Home device will then scan for Bluetooth devices.

  9. Turning Bluetooth on Shockwafe Soundbar

    • ​Press and hold the Bluetooth (      ) button on the remote control until the LED display on the soundbar shows “BT” blinking (See image below).

  10. Tap on “SHOCKWAFE” once it appears on the screen. The soundbar will now pair with your Google Nest or Home device.

  11. Tap Done.

ADDITIONAL: Turn your TV on and off using Google Home

To allow soundbar to be turned on via / work with Google Home, it has to be connected to the TV of which Chromecast is installed and with HDMI-CEC turned on (Both TV and Soundbar). Using HDMI-CEC control, when you activate the TV via Voice, e.g, “Ok Google, turn on the TV”, the soundbar will also be activated as well. 1. Amazon Alexa (Bluetooth Pairing)

STEP 1: What you need

Amazon Echo, Amazon Fire TV, or a third-party Alexa-compatible device

STEP 2a: Pair Amazon's Echo Series of Devices with Soundbar

  1. Download the Amazon Alexa app on your phone or tablet. Get it from iTunes for iOS devices or the Play Store for Android.

  2. Sign in to your Amazon account from within the Amazon Alexa app.

  3. Tap Devices on the bottom right of the app.

  4. Choose the plus (+) icon at the top of the screen and select Add Device.
    Tap Speaker in the Amazon Alexa app, select “Other”.

  5. Turning Bluetooth on Shockwafe Soundbar

    • ​Press and hold the Bluetooth (      ) button on the remote control until the LED display on the soundbar shows “BT” blinking (See image below).

  6. Select “Discover Devices”. This process will take longer than 20 seconds. 

  7. You will see “SHOCKWAFE” on the list so tap on it to connect.

  8. When successful, you should hear Alexa say "Now connected to SHOCKWAFE.

 

STEP 2b: Pair Fire TV Devices With Soundbar
 

  1. Connect Fire TV Device(s) to HDMI (2) port of the Soundbar, with the Soundbar ARC connected to the TV’s ARC

  2. Power on your Fire TV device.

  3. Scroll to Settings in the menu at the top of the screen.

  4. Go to Controllers & Bluetooth Devices > Other Bluetooth Devices > Add Bluetooth Devices.

  5. Turning Bluetooth on Shockwafe Soundbar

    • ​Press and hold the Bluetooth (      ) button on the remote control until the LED display on the soundbar shows “BT” blinking (See image below).

  6. Select “SHOCKWAFE”. When connected, you'll see an on-screen confirmation, and the soundbar will be listed as a paired device.

ADDITIONAL: How to Control Your TV With Alexa

To allow soundbar to be turned on via Alexa, it has to be connected to the TV with HDMI-CEC turned on (Both TV and Soundbar), as well as the devices connected to the soundbar (Unless it’s TV built-in Alexa, or it’s Fire TV stick, which is to be connected directly to the TV). Using HDMI-CEC control, when you activate the TV via Voice, e.g., “Alexa, turn on the TV”, the soundbar will also be activated as well. To read more, visit: How to Control Your TV with Alexa
