FIRMWARE UPGRADE INSTRUCTIONS
Dolby Atmos + Dolby Vision + SSE Firmware Upgrade
For Shockwafe Ultra 9.2 DTS:X (2018)
after firmware installation is completed.
Please READ the following information before upgrading your soundbar to ensure a smooth firmware upgrade experience.
A. Preparing the USB Drive
1. Plug an USB drive onto your PC.
2. Reformat the USB drive to "FAT16" or "FAT32" format

B. Downloading the Firmware
1. Download the firmware (File size = 2.2 MB).
2. Unzip the downloaded file to retrieve "FW_U92.BIN" file (4.3 MB)
3. Place the "FW_U92.BIN" file onto the USB drive.

C. Disconnecting all HDMI cables from the Shockwafe soundbar
1. Ensure all HDMI and other source cables are disconnected from the soundbar
D. Upgrading the Shockwafe Soundbar
1. Insert the USB drive to the USB port at the back of the soundbar.
2. Press the USB button on the remote control to switch soundbar to USB mode.
3. Press and hold the ENTER button until "UPG--" is displayed on the front LED display.
4. Firmware upgrade progress will be displayed on the LED display with numeric percentage (MCUXX%, DSPXX%, HDMXX%, TXXX% and BTXX%, XX = 2-digit numbers).
5. The upgrade process may take 5 to 10 minutes. DO NO UNPLUG USB DRIVE OR POWER OFF THE SOUNDBAR!
6. Once the firmware upgrade is completed, the soundbar will restart automatically.
7. Verify the soundbar firmware version by pressing INFO button multiple times until "FWXX" is displayed on the soundbar LED (XX = 2-digit number that represents firmware version)
8. MUST PERFORM Section F to get the best audio performance.
E. DO NOT UPGRADE your subwoofer(s)
DO NOT plug the USB drive into the subwoofer(s). This firmware is not intended for the subwoofer(s)! You are required to upgrade the soundbar only.
F. Resetting the Soundbar (IMPORTANT)
1. Ensure the soundbar is turned ON and no HDMI/Optical cable is connected to soundbar at this point.
2. Press SETUP button multiple times to locate RESET function.
3. Press ENTER button to select the function.
4. Press ENTER button again to confirm reset function.
5. The soundbar now will restart automatically to complete the reset sequence. (“HELLO” appears on soundbar LED and it will be back to ARC mode by default)
6. Press DEMO button on top of the soundbar to perform sound check on each channel
G. Re-establish HDMI connection with TV
1. Disconnect all HDMI cables connected to TV and soundbar
2. Power OFF the TV, soundbar and other devices
3. Unplug the power cord of TV, soundbar and other devices from power outlets
4. Wait for 10 minutes to clear the internal memory
5. Plug the power cord of TV and soundbar back to power outlet
6. Power ON the soundbar and TV
7. Connect a HDMI cable to soundbar HDMI 1 ARC and TV HDMI ARC
8. Ensure the soundbar is switched to ARC mode
9. Verify the TV audio is playing on the soundbar
10. Configure the TV audio settings HERE
11. Press INFO button on your soundbar remote to verify audio format received on your soundbar
12. Proceed to connect content devices one by one
You are now ready to enjoy your Shockwafe soundbar with new features and improvements.
Perform soundbar hard reset after firmware upgrade is completed.

Dolby Atmos MAT audio playback:
Some content devices output Dolby Atmos audio in "Dolby Atmos MAT" format, a new audio format that adds Dolby Atmos metadata into lossless pulse-code modulation (PCM) audio. The content devices are designed to prioritize internal buffering for high quality video when playing Dolby Atmos MAT contents. Therefore, the buffering process might cause random audio cut-outs. This is reported by various users with content devices that outputting Dolby Atmos MAT format:
From time to time, the data transmission may not be 100 percent perfect due to multiple reasons such as network speed inconsistency and variable data bit-rate of the content. For streaming and broadcast content, video signal is always prioritized over audio, thereby causing potential intermittent audio drop outs for a very short period of time. This is especially prominent when it comes to any high resolution content, which requires more intensive processing power and bandwidth.
After the Dolby Atmos SSE upgrade, the soundbar is doing a much heavier load of processing vs before. The system is processing Video frames up to 4K with active HDR in real time (Dolby Vision and HDR10 standards with HDCP 2.2) and passing it thru to the TV. Concurrently, it is also processing and upmixing Audio from PCM, Bitstream, all Dolby or DTS codecs to 9.2.4 channels of audio. Layering on our exclusive Spatial Surround Processing (SSE) audio upmixing portion is especially computing power intensive as most content are only recorded in 5.1 or 7.1. When multiple devices are connected together in a chain, with each device feeding different audio and video codecs to the soundbar individually, the soundbar needs a few seconds to process and decode the signal properly. Every time when the user switches programming, stop, pause, fast forward or rewind, this entire process initiates again, thereby requiring time to initialize.
